Allu Arjun got interim bail on Friday in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, but he was released from jail on Saturday morning.
Allu Arjun’s Friday was full of drama for him, like arrest, detention and bail happened within a few hours. But despite getting bail from the Telangana High Court, the actor had to spend a night in jail. The reason for this was an error and the bureaucratic red tape that followed.
Why Allu Arjun spent the night in jail
Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in a stampede case, in which a woman had died during the premiere of his blockbuster movie Pushpa 2 The Rule. A local court in Hyderabad first sent him to judicial custody for 14 days, but later the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail.
Outside the jail, his fans had gathered to get a glimpse of their hero. But when they came to know that Allu Arjun will not be released till Saturday morning, the hopes of the fans were dashed.
The actor had to spend the night in jail despite getting relief from HC earlier as the prison authorities did not receive the bail copy till Friday night, jail sources told PIT. According to reports, there was an error in the interim bail order, due to which a fresh order was issued, which reached the jail late Friday night. The jail authorities said that it was necessary to scrutinize the bail copy. Therefore, it was not possible to release him on Friday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police.Task Force, told reports on Friday night, “Woh (Allu Arjun) will be released tomorrow morning
Allu Arjun’s lawyer, Ashok Reddy, criticised the Hyderabad jail authorities for “not complying with the bail order”, Reddy said while speaking to PTI. “You should have asked the government and the department why they have not released the accused yet. The High Court order is very specific. As soon as they (prison authorities) receive the order, they should release him immediately. They will have to answer why he was not released even after the order was cleared, this is illegal detention. We will take legal steps **
